The First Hindrance

Try to remember your own experience of a recent sensory-type hindrance, that interfered with your meditation. This could be seemingly minor like a persistent craving for a cup of tea during your meditation, a persistent itch or a need to check-in with a friend immediately.

You may get an idea from the quotation below, about the first hindrance.

Sensory (sensual) desire: wanting immediate happiness (or relief), through stimulation of the five senses. This may arise from a personal difficulty, deficiency, loneliness, a deep need, clinging, depression, desperation, uncertainty, self-medication. (Sometimes we experience a state of “if only….then I would be happy”)
